1. WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF WELDING?

Welding is one type of permanent joining process by which two or more solid components can be joined to form a unit. Despite presence of many alternative processes (see section below), welding offers many advantages over others:

2. WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF WELDING?

Welding is a process that has been essential to technology for many years now. It is a fabrication process where two or more parts are fused together by the use of heat, pressure, or both, forming a join as the parts cool


Welding is usually used on metals and thermoplastics but can also be used on wood.


There are many different types of welding processes and the following are the most common metalworking weld used today:

#1 - Arc Welding


Arc welding is the oldest of these welding processes. As the name suggests, arc welding uses an electric arc to melt materials before joining them together. A power supply is used to create an electric arc is between an electrode (which can be either consumable or non-consumable) and the base metal to melt the metals at the point of contact. Although there aren’t many materials needed and the tools are relatively simple, it’s important to note that this is still a practice that requires hard work to master.

#2 - TIG


TIG welding is extremely versatile, but it is also one of the most difficult welding techniques to learn. Also known as gas tungsten arc welding, or GTAW, TIG welding takes a bit of experience to pick up and master. Learning how to TIG weld is something most people do after they’ve established a solid base in welding and want to widen their skill set as the margin for error is much smaller than in other welding applications.

#3 - MIG


MIG or metal inert gas welding is another welding method that uses an electric arc to create welds. If you’re going to begin your welding career, start with MIG welding. It’s one of the easier types of welding to pick up and doesn’t require a huge investment right off the bat either.

#4 - FLUX-CORE WELDING


Flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) is similar to MIG welding because both continuous wire fed electrode, a constant-voltage welding power supply. The name flux-core refers to the center of the welding wire, which is made up of material called flux. 

#5 - GAS WELDING


Gas welding is one of the oldest forms of heat-based welding and remains the go-to option for many industries. The reason why this welding technique has a great fanfare is because of its ease of use and low-cost nature. Carrying out a welding process with gas welding is relatively easy and does not necessarily require expert welders.

Welding is useful in many circumstances, although there are certain limitations. It can sometimes be difficult, expensive or require a lot of material
